Points A(3,5) and B(7,10) are the endpoints of a diameter of a circle graphed in a coordinate plane. How many square units are in the area of the circle? Express your answer in terms of pi.
Find length of the diameter with distance equation..... then area = pi r2 whre r= 1/2 d
Distance = sqrt ( (3-7)2 + (5-10)2 )
= sqrt (16 + 25)
diameter = 7 units
r = 3.5 units area = pi (3.5)2 units2
16+25=41 NOT 49
Diameter length = sqrt [ (7-3)^2 + ( 10 - 5)^2 ] = sqrt [ 4^2 + 5^2] = sqrt [ 41]
Radius = sqrt (41) /2
Radius^2 = 41/4
Area of circle = pi r^2= pi * (41/4) = (41/4) pi units^2
