AQ = (√2)/2

 

∠BAN = tan-1(1/2) 

 

∠PAQ = 45º - ∠BAN 

 

PQ = tan∠PAQ * AQ 

 

Area of quadrilateral APCB = 1/3 units2 smiley

You have an error there. That area cannot be larger than 1 half of the square's area!!!
