Find the area of a star colored in red inscribed in a unit square according to the picture below.  E is the midpoint of AB, and other edges follow the same pattern.

I'm guessing that you wnat to know the  ratio of the  red area  to  the  area of the square  ???

If so

One white area  has  a base  =  the side of the square  =  S

And the  height of one of these right triangles =  S/4

So....its area =   (1/2) S ( S/4) =  S^2 / 8

And   the toal white area  =  (4) S^2/8  =   S^2/2

So....red area  to square area  =   1/2
