You can calculat the slope betqeen the two lines   as   ( y1-y2) / (x1-x)      but the way this is drawn I think they want you to use

the   'rise over run ' method ( which is really the same thing )

     from the L poin to the R point       the rise  is   -2     the 'run' is 4     so rise/run = -2 / 4  = -1/2   which is the slope , m

 

slope intercept form of a line     y = mx + b      we found m = -1/2     'b' is the y -axis intercept at 4 (see it?)

                        so your line is    y = -1/2 x + 4     re-arrange to the requested form

                                                1/2x + y  = 4       multiply thru by 2 to get rid of the fraction\    

                                                  x + 2y   = 8       Done!
