x + 3y =   -5

3y = - x - 5

y = (-1/3)x - 5/3         the slope of the parallel line =  -1/3

So....since this line passes through  (-7,-2)  we have that

y= (-1/3) ( x -  - 7)   - 2         simplify

y = (-1/3) ( x + 7)  - 2

y= (-1/3)x  -  7/3    - 2

y = (-1/3)x  -  13/3        mutiply through bu 3

3y =  -x   - 13       put in standard form

1x + 3y   = -13       multiply through by  -3/13

-(3/13)x  - 9/13y  = 3

A = -(3/13)   B = (-9/13)

B - A  =

-9/13  -  (-3/13)  =

-6/13
