Thanks Chris,

Here's another way

1)

 $$\\log_{0.6} 0.36\\\\
=log_{0.6} (0.6)^2\\\\
=2log_{0.6} (0.6)\\\\
=2*1\\\\
=2$$

log.6 .36      we can solve this with the change of base rule

The answer is given by     log . 36  / log .6   = 2

Similarly

log8  .0039    =   log .0039 / log 8 = about  -2.667

Yeah...I thought about that answer after I gave it......I knew that I could express it differently......I was just too lazy to go back and make a real effort....

Besides....I figured someone would come along and do it a different way......LOL!!!

It didn't matter anyway - there was nothing wrong with your answer :)
