The coefficient of kinetic friction between a 3.0 kg wooden block and the surface on which it is moving is 0.28. Determine the work required to move the block 12 feet upon this surface.
\(F_{friction}=m g \mu_f = (3)(9.8)(0.28) = 8.232 N\\ 12 ft = 3.6576 m \\ Work = 8.232 N \times 3.6576m = 30.11 Nm = 30.11 J\)
Isn'T the force in the work equation the net force. Why are we using the force of friction and not the Force applied?
