A snail fell into a well which is 3 m deep. It would climb 1/4 m up the all in the day and slide 1/10 m in the night. How many days would the snail take to get out of the well?
Each day.....the snail gains (1/4 -1/10)m = (.25 - .10), = .15m
So.....the number of days to reach the top = 3/.15 = 20 days
So....the snail gets out of the well on the 21st day.....!!!!

Climb 1/4x, then - 1/10x
3 = 1/4x - 1/10x
10/40 - 4/40 = 6/40 = 3/20x
3/20x = 3
x = 20
It would take 20 days for snail to get out of well.
