if you are using a keyboard on a computer, press the dash key (right next to the zero), and then press the eight. on a physical graphing calculator or a scientific calculator, press the negitive boutton in the bottom row (it looks like this (-)). on a physical TI 108 instructional calculator, the negitive botton is in the upper left-hand corner.
