A helicopter hover directly above the landing pad on top of a 125 m hight building. A person is standing 145 m from the base of the building. The angle of elevation to the helicopter from the person is 58 degrees. How high is the helicopter above the landing pad?

Let the distance of the hovering helicopter from the landing pad =D

Tan(58) =(125 + D) / 145

1.6          =(125 + D) / 145 cross multiply

232        =125 + D               subtract 125 from both sides

D = 232 - 125

D =107 meters - distance of the hovering helicopter from the landing pad.
