Perimeter  = 2 ( W + L)    .....so....

We  have  that

2 [ (x + 1)  + x  ]   +  2  =  2 [(3x - 1) + (4x - 5) ]      simplify

2  [ 2x + 1 ]  + 2  = 2 [ 7x - 6]

4x + 2 + 2  =  14x  -  12

4x + 4  =  14x  - 12        add 12 to both sides, subtract  4x  from both sides

16  =  10x         divide  both sides  by  12

16/10 =  x =  8/5

Perimeter  of larger rectangle   =   14(8/5) -12   =  (112 - 60)/5 =  52/ 5  =  10.4  m
