Matt wants to measure the height of a tree. He walks exactly 100 feet away from the base of the tree and looks up at it. The angle from his eyes to the top of the tree is 35.

If his eye level is 5 feet from the ground what is the height of the tree.

All  we need to do is to add  5 ft  to this answer

 

tan (35°)  =  remaining height  / 100     multiply both sides by 100

 

100 * tan (35°)  = remaining height of tree  ≈   70.02 ft

 

So...the height of the  tree ≈  75.02  ft
