If x+y=25 and x*y=135, What are x and y?

y = 25 - x....so.....

 

x(25 - x) = 135   simplify

 

25x - x^2   = 135     rearrange

 

x^2 - 25x + 135 = 0

 

The two solutions are   :

 

[25 + sqrt(85)] / 2     and   [ 25 - sqrt(85)] 2       whichever x is, y is the other.....!!!
