1. An airplane carrying 500 passengers burns 5 gallons of fuel per mile. What is the fuel consumption rate of the plane per person? gallons per person per mile

Please help because I've been stuck and I can't figure it out. I divided 500 by 5 and got 100 but that's not correct. My teacher said the answer is .01 but I'm not sure how to get that answer. Thank you!!

5 gal/mile  / 500 persons   =   1/100 gal per person per mile

Something to remember:  the word "per" always means "divided by"
