Bill is building a treehouse and cutting wood for the ladder. He has one piece of wood that is 200 inches long that he needs to cut into two pieces. One piece must be four times as long as the other. How long are the two pieces of wood?
160 and 40.
L1 + L2 = 200
L1 = 4*L2
Therefore:
4*L2 + L2 = 200
etc.
I assume you can find L2 and then L1 from the above.
