If a is three times b, b is twice c, and c is four times d, what is the value of ?

 

a = 3b     therefore a = 3b = 6c = 24d  

b = 2c                     b = 2c = 8d  

c = 4d                     c = 4d  

 

to determine a • c / b • d   let's put everything in terms of one "letter" ...  looks like d would be the easiest   

 

                     24d • 4d              96d2  

                    ——–——    =    ———     the d2 cancel out leaving 96 divided by 8 which is 12  

                       8d • d                 8d2
