Solve by subtracting both sides by 3x

-1<2x+8

Subtract both sides by 8

-9<2x

Divide by 2

x>-9/2

 

5x+8<2x+15

Subtract both sides by 2x and 8

3x<7

x<7/3

 

Interval notation: (-9/2, 7/3)
