Mark and Suzie are using a bucket to empty their flooded basement. Each bucket holds five cubic feet of water and it takes 112 full buckets to completely empty all the water from the basement. If the basement is 14 feet wide and 20 feet long, how deep was the water when Mark and Suzie began their task?

5 ft3 / bucket   *   112 buckets = 560 ft3

560 ft3  = 14 ft x 20 ft x  d   ft         d =   560/(14*20) = 2 ft deep

( ya know those buckets each weigh about  320 pounds ! )
