So you need to figure out an unknown number,

Let this number be n. (Make n represent the unknown number while we figure it out)

This unknown number multiplied by 7, then added to 3 equals 59.

7n + 3 = 59

Remove 3 from both sides of the equation.

7n + 3 (- 3) = 59 (- 3)

7n = 59 - 3

7n = 56

Since the unknown number was also multiplied by 7, we need to divide both sides by 7

7n (/7) = 56 / 7

Imagine if n = 2 (it doesn't in this case) but if it did then 7 * 2 / 7 = 14 / 7 which equals 2.

So

7n / 7 = n

n = 56 / 7

I'll let you figure that part out.
