Let x be the number of one striped fish and y be the number of two striped fish.

one hundred families have 2 fish ==>  x + y = 200

273 stripes total ==> x + 2y = 273

Multiply the first equation by 2:

2x + 2y = 400

x + 2y = 273

Subtract to find that x = 127 and y = 73.

So, there are 127 one-striped fish in total
