Oliver and Lenny started hiking a hill simultaneously from the bottom to the top. Oliver hiked at a speed of 5 km/h during the first half, then decreased his speed to 4 km/h during the second half. Lenny hiked at a speed of 4 km/h during the first half, then increased his speed to 5 km/h in the second half. Who reached the top of the hill first? What is the proportion of time he spent hiking to that of his friend?

i mean i haven't really done all the math but from first glance it seems that they would both reach the top at the same time if they truly started at the same time and switched speeds both at half and the terrain had no effect. You can see this by cancelling out eachothers speeds. such as 4km/h in the second by oliver cancels by the 4km/h by lenny during his first. the Same with the 5km/h's. hope that helps
