Consider the following function.

f ( x) = x2 − 8x + 7

Find when

f ( x) = −5.

  ( Enter your answers as a comma-separated list. If there is no solution, enter NO SOLUTION. ) x =

Use part (a) to find two points that lie on the graph of the function. ( Order your answers from smallest to largest x.)

When f(x) = -5

-5 = x^2 - 8x + 7

0 = x^2 - 8x + 12

0 = (x-6)(x-2)             so a value of   x = 6  or  2    will result in f(x) = -5

Wellllll   now you have two points     (6, -5)    and   (2,-5)
