Sum of ingredients   = sum of products

90% solution = x                ingredient   is  .9 x

40% solution = 2000 - x     ingredient = .4 (2000-x)

ingredients summed = .6 (2000)

.9x        +    .4(2000-x)        = .6 (2000)           solve for x = 90% solution liters to use     then 40% is 2000-x liters
