A circle with radius 6 has a sector with a central angle of 48º.  What is the area of the sector?

First, find the area of the circle using:  Area  =  pi · r2

 

Since there are 360o in a circle but you only want a sector of size 48o,

multiply the answer that you got for the area of the circle by the fraction (48/360).
