If a range hood removes contaminants at a flow rate of F liters of air per second, then the percent P of contaminants that are also removed from the surrounding air can be modeled P=1.18F+10.12, where F is between and inclusive of 25 and 70.

What are the minimum and maximum values for P in this model?

Minimum = _____ %

Maximum = _____ %

(Simplify your answers. Round to the nearest hundredth as  needed.)

P=1.18F+10.12       Just substitute 25 and 70 for F

P =1.18*25 + 10.12

p =39.62% Minimum percentage.

P =1.18*70 + 10.12

P =92.72% Maximum percentage.

In this case, P is just a linear function, so minimum occurs when F=25 and maximum occurs when F=70. If P was a non linear function you would need to use calculus.
