Here's the method that I like...... it originated with the ancient Babylonians and is called  "Divide and Average"

There is at least one more method that I know that resembles long division, but I think the above method is easier to understand and apply.

We usually use calculators. But I don't like that way. I want exact values some times.

Example: \(\sqrt{88}\\ = \sqrt{4}\sqrt{22}\text{<}--\boxed{\sqrt{ab}=\sqrt{a}\cdot \sqrt b}\\ = 2\sqrt{22}\)

There I got the exact value of sqrt 88.
