Carlos can paint the fields in 4 hours. It takes Marcos 6.5 hours to do the same job. How long does it take the boys to d o the job if they work together? Show an equation

Notice that  1/6.5 = 2/13  and this is the part  of the field that Marcos can paint in one hour

And Carlos paints 1/4 of the field every hour.

So....here's an easy way to solve these kind of problems.....

Add the two fractions = 1/4 + 2/13   =  [13 + 8] / 52  = 21/52  

Now....invert the fraction =  52/21 = about 2.48 hours......and that's how long it takes both to finish the job working together....!!!!
