Life is an organisms span of living or being considered "alive" meaning it can acomplish tasks. for us that would be breathing and thinking. for bacteria that would be eating and multiplying. a rock is not alive because it cannot set tasks for itself and or affect things around it without first being affected by other things.

or in a less scientific scale, life is the course brought to us as either a curse or a blessing by an unknown force. we go through life to get to death, and what you do during that journey is your choice.
