Slope =  (11 - 7)  / ( 3 -1)  =   4 / 2  =  2

Equation of line

y = 2(x - 1)  +  7

y  = 2x  - 2  +  7

y  = 2x  +  5

The line intersects  the  x axis  where y = 0

So

0 = 2x + 5

-5  =  2x

-5/2  =  x

Chris has given the point tht intersects the x-axis.  To find the point that  intersects the y-axis, set x = 0 and calculate the corresponding value of y from the equation y = 2x + 5.
