2x^2 + 16x + 24

First rule ⇒ take out the greatest common factor, 2

2 [ x^2 + 8x + 12 ]

We need two numbers that sum to 8 and multiply to 12

6 and 2 are the ones we need .....so factor with these and we have

2 (x + 6) (x + 2)
