The average daily maximum temperature for Shane’s hometown can be modeled by the function f(x)=12.2cos(πx/6)+54.9 , where f(x) is the temperature in °F and x is the month.

x = 0 corresponds to January.

What is the average daily maximum temperature in March?

Round to the nearest tenth of a degree if needed.

Use 3.14 for π

OK..if January means that x =  0.....then March means that x = 2

So we have

f(2) =  12.2 cos ( pi * 2 / 6) + 54.9  =    12.2cos ( pi /3) + 54.9  =   12.2 * [ 1/2] + 54.9 =

6.1 + 54.9  =

61   (degrees)
