24=x^2-2x

x^2-2x-24=0

(x-6)(x+4)=0

x=-6 or x=4

Thanks, Landry.......since we have a distance, x must be positive.........so......

(x - 6) (x + 4)  = 0

Set both factors = 0       and x = 6 or x = -4

And x = 6 is correct
