A right circular cone of base radius 1 and slant height 3 is given. P is a point on the circumference of the base. Find the length of the shortest path from P around the cone and back to P.     

 

The base circumference is 2 π r = 6.28 so that's the distance from P all the way around the cone.     

 

This problem is so easy, I kept looking for the catch, for what I'm missing, but I can't find anything.
