Hayley1, It doesn't look like you combined the terms correctly.

 

3(x-4y)-2(3x+7y)-(8+3y)

3x-12y -6x-14y-8-3y

 

3x -6x = -3x

 

-12y -14y -3y = -29y

 

-8 = -8

 

-3x -29y - 8 is the final answer.

baby steps ;)

first let's do 3(x-4y)

3x-12y

then lets do -2(3x+7y)

-9x-14y

then the last one will be -8-3y

so.. then you'll do 3x-9x

-6x-5y-8
