Elissa wants to set up a rectangular dog run in her backyard. She has 34 feet of fencing to work with and wants to use it all. If the dog run is to be x feet long, express the area of the dog run as a function of x.
The area of a rectangle of side x is S=x^2.
a rectangle has 4 sides, so 4*x=36. The side is 9. So the area is 9^2 or 9*9 and equals 81.
:)
This is a RECTANGLE one side is x (length) so part of the perimeter is x + x or 2x
so the other two sides of the perimeter equal what is left of 34 or 34-2x 1/2 of this is the length of the other side or
17-x (width)
Area = length x width x * (17-x) = area of the pen or 17x - x^2
I do not know whats wrong with me. :l Maybe I just need to log off. Tbh.
