Hi! I am here to answer your question!

First convert the mixed fraction into an improper fraction.( If you don't know how to turn a mixed into an improper fraction, see the end of this answer)

So in your case: 1 6/8

                        =  14/8

Now simply divide 14 by eight:

 So :                = 14/8 = 7/4 = 1.75

Turning a mixed fraction into an improper fraction:

First multiply the denominator of the fraction by the whole number. After doing that, add the answer with the numerator.

For example : 4 6/7

                    = (4*7) + 6

                    = 28 + 6

                    = 34

Now keep the denominator the same as in the mixed fraction.

                  = 34/7

I hope that answers your question! If you have any more queries post it on this website!
