What is the perimeter of a rhombus with diagonals of lengths 12 and 16 units?

1/2 the length of each diagonal will form two legs of a right triangle

And the side of the rhombus will be the hypotenuse 

 

So....the perimeter is 4 times this hypotenuse length

 

4 sqrt ( 6^2 + 8^2) =

 

4 sqrt ( 36 + 64) =

 

4sqrt (100) =

 

4 * 10 =

 

40 units
