if y=2x^2-4x-5 what is the value of y when x=-3

Just put in  -3 wherever 'x' is in the equation and calculate it out....

 

y = 2(-3)^2 -4(-3) - 5

   = 2(9) +12 -5

==18 +12 -5

y=25
