What are the rectangular coordinates of the polar coordinates (3√2,−π/6) ?

x = 3√2 cos (-pi/6)  = 3√2 * √3/2  =  (3/2)√6

 

y = 3√2  sin (-pi/6)  = 3√2 * (-1/2)  = -3√2 / 2 = -(3/2)√2

 

So

 

(x , y)   =     ( (3/2)√6 ,  -(3/2)√2  )
