 y-2x  = -3.5

-2y+x = -14     or   x = 2y-14     Use this value of x to sub into first equation

y - 2(2y-14) = - 3.5

y - 4y + 28 = - 3.5

-3y = -31.5

y = 10.5                     Substitute this value of y into one of th equations to find x

x = 2y-14

x = 2(10.5) -14

x = 7
