2(X+3)^2 = -4X   simplify on the left side

2[x^2 + 6x + 9)  = -4x     divide both sides by 2

(x ^2 + 6x + 9)  = -2x       add 2x to both sides

x^2 + 8x + 9   =  0       this won't factor

Using the quadratic formula, the solutions are  x =   (plus/minus)sqrt(7)  - 4

Or...in approximate form...... about -1.354   and -6.646

cool cool cool
