In the figure, triangles ABC and BCD are equilateral triangles. What is the value of AD/BC when expressed in simplest radical form?

The height of an eqilateral triangle  with side, S   = S*sqrt (3) / 2

So  AD  is twice this  =   S*sqrt(3)

So

AD / BC  =     S*sqrt(3)  / S    =   sqrt(3)
