if y=x^2-3x-4   and y=-4 what is x

x=3 and x=0

if y=x^2-3x-4   and y=-4 what is x

-4 = x^2 - 3x - 4       add 4 to  both sides

x^2 - 3x = 0     factor

x(x -3) = 0      and setting each factor to 0, x = 0  or x = 3
