If a=kb where k is a constant and a=12 when b=15, what is the value of a when b=12

 

12 = k * 15      divide both sides by 15

 

12/15 = k  =  4/5

 

So....when b = 12

 

a = (4/5)(12) =  48/5  = 9.6
