A point P is randomly placed in the interior of the right triangle above. What is the probability that the area of triangle PBC is less than half of the area of triangle ABC? Express your answer as a common fraction.

Since they are on the same base , CB......triangle   PBC  will  have an area less than  (1/2)  of triangle  ABC when the height of  PBC   is   less than (1/2)  of   AC

 

So......the probability  is   1 / 2
