What is the radius, in inches, of a right circular cylinder if its lateral surface area is 3.5 square inches and its volume is 3.5 cubic inches?

Volume of cylinder =  pi r^2 h

Lateral surface area = pi d  * h

pi r^2 h = 3.5

pi d * h = 3.5

pi 2 r h = 3.5

Two equations , two unknowns    solve for r

pi r^2 h = 3.5 = pi 2r h

r^2 = 2r      divide both sides by 'r'

r = 2 inches
