what are logorithims?
Yes, a log is a power or an exponent
10^2=100
so
\(log _{10}100 = 2\)
This is read as log of 100 base 10 =2
If there is no base written log would be assumed to be base 10 :)
"a quantity representing the power to which a fixed number (the base) must be raised to produce a given number."
Log is the same as exponent, so if we have: 10^2=100. We say 2 to the base 10 is the "Log" of 100.
