8 points are spaced around at intervals of one unit around a 2 x 2 square as shown. If 2 of the 8 points are chosen at random, what is the probability that they are more than one unit apart?

Think of it this way. You pick any spot, and you have 2 points to either sides that are 1 unit away.

thus we have 7-2 /7 = 5/7 probability

i think what hugo meant was \(\dfrac{7-2}{7}=\dfrac{5}{7}\text{ probability}\)
