How many different 5 or 6 character passwords can you create from only lower case letters and digits, if repitition IS allowed?

a, b, c, d, e, f

How many choices do you have for "a"? 26

How many choices do you have for "b" ? Also 26 [Because repeats are allowed]....and so on for all 5-letter codes.

So, the total for 5-letter codes, or passwords, =26 x 26 x 26 x 26 x 26 =26^5.

Exact same reasoning applies to 6-letter codes or passwords..............= 26^6.

Sorry, I didn't see the "digits", but it depends on how many letters and digits you want in each password. So, if you wanted a password of 4 letters and 2 digits, then it is the same as explained above: 26 x 26 x 26 x 26 x 10 x 10 =26^4 x 10^2 . If you wanted 4 digits and 2 letters, then you would have: 10^4  x  26^2....and so on.
