help :/
A fish tank has a rectangular base 40 cm by 20 cm. Water is poured in to a height of 24 cm.
a What is the volume of water in the tank? b If a further 2 litres of water is poured into the tank, by how much will the water level rise?
a) Volume = (40 * 20 * 24) cm^3 = 19200 cm^3
b) 1L = 1000cm^3
So 2L = 2000 cm^3
So.....we can find how much the water wil rise by solving this
(20 * 40 * h) = 2000
800 * h = 2000 divide both sides by 800
h = 2000/800 = 2.5 cm = height that the water will rise
